Testimonials
Melissa and staff started taking care of my son when he was 11 weeks old. As a first time mom it was the hardest thing to do as I returned to work 45 minutes from town, but Melissa and staff made me feel comfortable and gave me updates the first couple of weeks. As time went on, he has grown so much and loves the staff and other kids. The childcare has a small group of kids and has plenty of one-on-one time with the staff and his desire to learn is very noticeable. As a parent I love the hands-on activities Melissa has planned and I can say at 2-years old my son has learned his alphabets, shapes, colors, numbers 1-20, countdown 10-1, and is trilingual in English, Navajo, and Spanish when it comes to his numbers 1-10.
During the current difficult times of Covid-19, she has remained open for essential employees and the precautions she has taken has been great and reassuring as she has gone above and beyond to ensure the kids and staff are safe. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an educational setting childcare.
I can’t say enough thanks to a wonderful person and family who is willing to help families of working parents. Also, not only to the immediate city of Winslow but to other communities like Flagstaff and Leupp, we are beyond grateful. We have trusted you so much that we travel each day of the work week to drop our child off with you. She learns so much and definitely enjoys coming each day. Thankful for a wonderful place.
Missy's childcare was the best thing that happened to my family. Missy is a caring person and was always patient and flexible. On days I had to work late, she worked with me and kept my kids until I could pick them up.
Furthermore, my first son had a speech delay but with Missy's curriculum and collaborative work with the school, my son started speaking in no time.
My kids love Missy. I will recommend everyone who needs a clean, organized, well structured daycare to choose Missy's Childcare.
Where to start.. My 3 boys Bubba(6), Jaycen(5) and Jaxyn(2) have all been going to Missys Family childcare since they were practically newborns. Her and her staff are exactly that to us, family. My boys always talk about the fun that they have and how they learn knew things every day. I know I don't have to worry about them when they're in their care because they are the most loving and caring people! I couldn't of chosen a better childcare for my boys. To see them grow and learn everyday and listen to their stories of what they did for the day when I pick them up always confirms to me that they are without a doubt the best. It has been amazing to see the growth and knowledge my boys have learned and retained from going to Melissa's daycare. They are always fed yummy nutritious food that my boys actually love(I always hear about that too). If we ever come across a family emergency I know I can count on Melissa and her staff to be there for us and help out the best they can.
Missy cared for my twins from 6 weeks old 2011 until age 5 when we moved in 2016. Not only did she care for them, she taught them things that they wouldn’t even learn until kindergarten! The mornings were daycare but the afternoon was school. They were constantly learning new things. She made sure the kids had an absolute blast at her house. She planned so many projects and activities to keep them busy. She treated them as if they were own children. She and her family would make it a point to attend their tball games or cheer performances at the football games. You don’t just get one person as your daycare provider. You get the entire family as a whole including her children and fiancé Frank. They all took part in helping care for my children. There was not a single day that I went to work worrying about my children. She would call us immediately if one of the twins fell even if there was no injury. We have been gone from Winslow for Almost 5 years and she still checks in on my twins from time to time...... they’re 9 now. I give Missy’s daycare 5 stars and will ALWAYS recommend her.
My daughter started attending Missy’s at the age of 3, going in my daughter was very shy and timid. Within just weeks we all saw a complete change with excitement to learn, answer questions with confidence and be part of all the fun activities they do. So much she asked to go on weekends! Now turning 6, she is thriving in Kindergarten! The Girls ( Angel, Alexis, Alayah, Amber, Missy) are so attentive and caring. My youngest started at the early age of 3 months. It’s a very good feeling of security knowing my children are safe and well taken care of while I work. Their motivation to provide the best care, education and environment for all the little ones is very noticeable and appreciated!
My daughter is a student of Melissa’s Family Day Care, she is four years old, and very much enjoys the relationships she has with each and every one of her teachers/caregivers. Everyday she comes home with something exciting to tell of her day complete with a
new song to sing, or a fascinating account of events she and her friends embarked on. Talk, talk, talk, with a lot of new information for me such as how to properly sing along to the washing of the hands song; “Tops and Bottoms.” I am very pleased to say that
it is truly my good fortune to have her at Melissa’s. I have peace of mind when it comes to the retention of information based on the children to teacher ratio as well as what I have come to witness at home through her behaviors. The attention that Melissa
and her team give to detail, especially in the light of COVID is exemplary. Her new and improved standardized protocol is especially appeasing when it comes to the safety of my child. Should this be a place for your family, Melissa and her angels have definitely
got it covered.
I have been with Melissa’s Family Childcare for 4 years now. I always heard about her childcare
through the community and through my brother that sent my niece there as well. Before I picked
Missy’s I set up a meeting with her to just see what her program was all about and what not. The thing
that really stood out to me was the education aspect of her program. I was really impressed with their
curriculum and all the things they teach and work with the children. Missy also showed me around
which made me feel more comfortable about sending my daughter. As the time has passed, being with
Melissa’s Family Childcare I have come to appreciate them all more and more each day. I now have both
my daughters in the program.
The number one thing I would have to say that now sticks out to me about Melissa’s Family
Childcare is their amount of caring for the health and well-being of each child. My oldest daughter
developed a severe peanut and tree nut allergy at one in a half years old. It’s definitely a tough allergy to
deal with and seems as if everything contains peanuts or tree nuts. But they have taken it on as champs
honestly. Her father and I have worked with our daughter to always ask if something has peanuts before
eating it and educated her about the consequences of eating it. She’s very responsible and smart about
her allergy. But Missy and her staff have really went above and beyond on not only talking to Mia about
it but talking to the rest of the class about her allergy and educating them on what will happen and
showing her epipen. They basically made it a lesson one day. That really made myself and her father
really happy and even more comfortable and appreciative for all that they do. Also, now with COVID
they take extraordinary measures with making sure the kids are all safe and healthy. That’s what makes
me so comfortable about Missy’s. They just do so much and genuinely care and enjoy all of the kids.
To wrap this up, I’m one of those parents that do not just leave my kid with anyone and I’m
super picky about what they eat and what not. I’m “that” parent. But they don’t make me feel like
“that” parent. They accommodate me so well and all the time. For example, if they are having any
sweets or candy they make sure to ask ahead of time if my daughters can have any. Before COVID, with
my daughter’s allergy, they would make sure her goodie bags were peanut free items. They’re just
amazing at what they do and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to educate and care for my girls the way that
they do. Also, as a side note, some days, the struggle is real and my girls will go over looking rough. My
oldest daughterloves when Alayah or Alexis does her hair. When I pick them up sometimes they look
better than when I drop them off. So with that being said, they are loved, cared for, and well taken care
of with Melissa’s Family Childcare.
Melissa Salazar’s daycare at 2124 Desert View Dr. Winslow, AZ is a place that can be trusted for childcare. From the point of view of a father, having my child go to Missy’s was very beneficial for my child. My child was able to learn and be prepared for Kindergarten on the basics of schooling. The daycare setup was organized, clean, and the staff were professional and caring. I always felt welcomed when leaving/picking up my child. From my point of view this level of care and trust is hard to find especially in a small town like Winslow.
I would highly recommend Missy’s Daycare if you are seeking quality, professional, trusted care for your child. I will be looking into childcare with Missy once again with my new born daughter, if there is room.
We have been so happy with the choice to send our children to Missy's home for childcare. As working parents, it is difficult to trust others to care for your children. However, Missy and the staff do a great job of providing a clean, safe, and educational environment for young children. I greatly appreciate the routine and consistency for my children. I never have to worry about their safety or whether they are being cared for.
My kids have been going to Missy's since my son (now 7) was 2 months old. I love the interaction Missy and the girls have with the kids, and the fact that the kids spend their days learning while they have fun. My son knew a lot of his letters and zoophonics before he got to kindergarten. Now his sister (18 months) is learning new things every week.
